Watering, mowing, fertilizing, weeding... A beautiful lawn requires regular maintenance. However, if properly chosen and planted, your lawn will grow beautifully and only require a little attention.
What if mowing the lawn every week down to 2-4 cm were useless or even harmful? In addition to the cost in energy and time, repeated mowing can compact the soil. Depriving the grass of much of its foliage weakens it and makes it less competitive with plantains, dandelions and other plants considered to be weeds. The rule of thumb for an easy lawn is to mow high (about 7-8 cm, leaving a third of the foliage) and only every 10 to 15 days.
Lawn care
A proper lawn that uses seeds adapted to the soil and climate is resistant to drought. Under the sun, the grass turns yellow, but as soon as it starts raining again, it turns green and lush. In exceptionally hot and dry weather, water enough to wet the soil thoroughly each time. But careful, too much water suffocates the roots and strips the soil of fertilizer. You should not water more than 20 l/m2 of lawn. How can you measure the amount of water? Place a tin can in the area being watered to check the water level (it should not exceed 2 cm). How often you should water the lawn depends on the weather and type of soil. For example, in dry weather we recommend watering twice per week in dry soil, once per week in medium soil and once every week and a half if the soil is heavy. Use several sprinklers to distribute the water evenly over the entire surface.
Water evenly and without puddles, 5 to 10 liters/m² (15 to 20 minutes with an automatic sprinkler). Water in the evening to limit evaporation and waste.
